北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）是一座复原、收藏、陈列和研究中国56个民族文化、文物、社会生活的大型人类学博物院。它的建成和开放，填补了中国没有大型人类学博物馆的空白，标志着首都文博事业和精神文明建设取得了长足的发展；标志着首都拥有了目前全国最大的民族文化保护、展示和交流的基地；标志着首都又有了一个充分展示党和国家民族政策、民族团结和民族进步崭新的窗口。”

The China Nationalities Museum (Chinese Ethnic Culture Park) is a large-scale anthropological museum dedicated to the restoration, collection, exhibition and research of the cultures, cultural relics and social life of China’s 56 ethnic groups. Its completion and opening have filled the national gap in large-scale anthropological museums featuring ethnic cultures, marking substantial progress in the development of Beijing’s cultural heritage undertakings and spiritual civilization.

Furthermore, the museum establishes the country’s largest platform for the protection, display and exchange of ethnic cultures in Beijing. It also serves as a vital window that fully showcases the Communist Party of China’s and the country’s ethnic policies, as well as the unity and progressive development of all Chinese ethnic groups.

在北京市委、市政府的领导下，在全国各民族干部和群众的支持下，在海外侨胞和港澳同胞的帮助下，经过全院各民族员工的共同奋斗，北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）取得了令人瞩目的成绩。先后举办过北京市政府外国使节招待会、第六届远南残疾人运动会闭幕式、国家旅游局“中国民俗旅游年”开幕式、第30届国际地质大会“民族园之夜”欢送晚会、第13届国际档案大会北京市政府招待会、第31届国际军事医学大会游园晚会、全国妇联第一、二、三届“心系新人”大型集体婚礼、第20届世界建筑师大会闭幕式、第22届万国邮政联盟大会闭幕招待会、第6届全国少数民族传统体育运动会北京市政府招待会、庆祝建国45周年和50周年“民族之光”主题游园、国际泌尿大会招待会、中国友好城市国际大会闭幕联欢会、北京国际旅游文化节闭幕式、世界渔业大会招待会、第七届中国国际机床展览会开幕招待会、中国国际照相机械影像器材与技术博览会联谊会、第21届世界大学生运动会“中外大学生联欢活动”等等。

Under the leadership of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, with the strong support of cadres and people of all ethnic groups across the country and the generous assistance of overseas Chinese compatriots as well as Hong Kong and Macao residents, the diverse staff of the China Nationalities Museum (Chinese Ethnic Culture Park) have made concerted efforts and achieved remarkable accomplishments.

The museum has hosted a series of influential national and international events, including the Diplomatic Reception hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government; the Closing Ceremony of the 6th Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled; the Opening Ceremony of China Folk Custom Tourism Year launched by the national tourism authority; the Ethnic Park Night Farewell Party for the 30th International Geological Congress; the Beijing Municipal Government Reception for the 13th International Council on Archives Congress; the Garden Party for the 31st International Congress of Military Medicine; the 1st, 2nd and 3rd sessions of the “Caring for Newlyweds” Group Wedding Ceremony initiated by the All-China Women’s Federation; the Closing Ceremony of the 20th World Congress of Architects; the Closing Reception of the 22nd Universal Postal Union Congress; the Beijing Municipal Government Reception for the 6th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities; the “Light of Ethnic Groups” Themed Garden Parties celebrating the 45th and 50th anniversaries of the founding of the People’s Republic of China; the Reception of the International Urology Congress; the Closing Gala of the China International Friendship Cities Conference; the Closing Ceremony of the Beijing International Tourism and Culture Festival; the Reception of the World Fisheries Congress; the Opening Reception of the 7th China International Machine Tool Show; the Networking Event of the China International Photographic Equipment and Technology Expo; and the Chinese and Foreign Students Gala of the 21st Summer Universiade.

博物院曾荣获国务院授予的“全国民族团结进步模范集体”、团中央和国家旅游局授予的“青年文明号”、国家旅游局授予的“AAAA级旅游景区”、中央国家机关工委授予的“中央国家机关思想教育基地”、北京市精神文明办公室授予的“文明景区”、北京市园林局授予的“一级公园”、北京市爱国主义教育领导小组授予的“爱国主义教育基地”、北京市民委授予的“中小学民族团结教育基地”、第20届世界建筑师大会组委会授予的“保护民族建筑文化奖”等等。

The museum has received numerous awards conferred by government authorities, including the National Model Collective for Ethnic Unity and Progress awarded by the State Council; the Youth Civilization Unit awarded by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and the National Tourism Administration; the AAAA-level Tourist Attraction awarded by the National Tourism Administration; the Ideological Education Base for Central State Organs awarded by the Working Committee of Central State Organs; the Civilized Scenic Area awarded by the Beijing Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee; the First-Class Park awarded by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Landscape and Forestry; the Patriotic Education Base awarded by the Beijing Patriotic Education Leading Group; the Primary and Secondary School Ethnic Unity Education Base awarded by the Beijing Municipal Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission; and the Award for the Preservation of Ethnic Architectural Culture issued by the Organizing Committee of the 20th UIA World Congress of Architects.

北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）于1992年开始建设，1994年6月28日北园建成开放京市委书记贾庆林、国务委员司马义.艾买提、中华慈善总会会长阎明复、北京市长刘淇、北京市副市长刘敬民等领导出席开幕式。

Construction of the Chinese Nationalities Museum (China Ethnic Museum) began in 1992.

Its North Park was completed and opened to the public on June 28, 1994, with the South Park opening on September 29, 2001.

Jia Qinglin, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, State Councilor Ismail Amat, Yan Mingfu, President of the China Charity Federation, Liu Qi, Mayor of Beijing, and Liu Jingmin, Deputy Mayor of Beijing, attended the opening ceremony.
