北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）是一座复原、收藏、陈列和研究中国56个民族文化、文物、社会生活的大型人类学博物院。它的建成和开放，填补了中国没有大型人类学博物馆的空白，标志着首都文博事业和精神文明建设取得了长足的发展；标志着首都拥有了目前全国最大的民族文化保护、展示和交流的基地；标志着首都又有了一个充分展示党和国家民族政策、民族团结和民族进步崭新的窗口。”

The China Nationalities Museum (the Chinese Ethnic Culture Park) is an anthropological museum as well as a complex to reconstruct, collect, display and study the ethnic cultures, histories and social life of the 56 nationalities in China. The opening of the museum presented us a unique anthropological museum in China. It is a milestone of the museum and civilization development in the city of Beijing. It also provides a facility and base for the protection, presentation and exchange of ethnic culture heritage. It is the window to demonstrate the ethnic policy of the government, harmony and progress of 56 nationalities in China.

在北京市委、市政府的领导下，在全国各民族干部和群众的支持下，在海外侨胞和港澳同胞的帮助下，经过全院各民族员工的共同奋斗，北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）取得了令人瞩目的成绩。先后举办过北京市政府外国使节招待会、第六届远南残疾人运动会闭幕式、国家旅游局“中国民俗旅游年”开幕式、第30届国际地质大会“民族园之夜”欢送晚会、第13届国际档案大会北京市政府招待会、第31届国际军事医学大会游园晚会、全国妇联第一、二、三届“心系新人”大型集体婚礼、第20届世界建筑师大会闭幕式、第22届万国邮政联盟大会闭幕招待会、第6届全国少数民族传统体育运动会北京市政府招待会、庆祝建国45周年和50周年“民族之光”主题游园、国际泌尿大会招待会、中国友好城市国际大会闭幕联欢会、北京国际旅游文化节闭幕式、世界渔业大会招待会、第七届中国国际机床展览会开幕招待会、中国国际照相机械影像器材与技术博览会联谊会、第21届世界大学生运动会“中外大学生联欢活动”等等。

Under the leadership of the municipal communist party and government, with the support of the cadres and people from the ethnic areas over the country, the friends from Hong Kong, Macao and overseas, the staff of the China Nationalities Museum have tried their best to operate the museum and have achieved a great success. Some important activities has been held in the museum, namely, reception of diplomatic sponsored by municipal government, closing ceremony of The 6th  Far East and South Pacific Games for the Disabled, the opening ceremony of the Year of the China’s Folkways Tourism, the Farewell Meeting of 30th International Conference of Geology, the reception of the 13th International Conference of Archives held by municipal government, the  garden party of the 31st International Conference of Military Medicine, the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd collective marriage ceremony held by the All-China Women's Federation, the closing ceremony of the 20th World Conference for Architects, the closing reception of the 22nd International Conference of Universal Postal Union, the reception of the 6th National Ethnic Traditional Games held by the municipal government, the garden party in celebration of the 45th and 50th National Days, the reception of International Conference on Uropoiesis, the closing party of International Conference for Municipal Collaboration, the closing ceremony of Beijing International Tourism Culture Festival, the reception of the International Fisheries, the opening reception of the 7th International Machine Tools Exhibition in China, the party of International Fairs for Photograph Equipment and Technology in China, the party for Chinese and foreign students in the Universiade Beijing 2001 and etc.

博物院曾荣获国务院授予的“全国民族团结进步模范集体”、团中央和国家旅游局授予的“青年文明号”、国家旅游局授予的“AAAA级旅游景区”、中央国家机关工委授予的“中央国家机关思想教育基地”、北京市精神文明办公室授予的“文明景区”、北京市园林局授予的“一级公园”、北京市爱国主义教育领导小组授予的“爱国主义教育基地”、北京市民委授予的“中小学民族团结教育基地”、第20届世界建筑师大会组委会授予的“保护民族建筑文化奖”等等。

The museum won the honors issued by various government agencies, namely, the National Model Collective of Ethnic Unity and Progress by The State Council of China, the Youth Civilization Team by the CCCY and National Tourist Bureau, the Class AAAA Scenic Resort by the Tourist National Tourist Bureau, the Base for Political Education of State by the Office of The State Office Working Committee, the Municipal Civilized Scenic Area in Beijing by the Beijing Civilization Promotion Office, the First Class Park in Beijing by Beijing Municipal Bureau for Parks, the Base for the Patriotic Education by the Municipal Patriotic Education Office, the Base of Ethnic Unity and Progress Education for Schools by Beijing Ethnic Affairs Committee, the Prize for Ethnic Architectural Culture Protection by the Organization Committee of 20th World Conference for Architects and etc. 

北京中华民族博物院（中华民族园）于1992年开始建设，1994年6月28日北园建成开放京市委书记贾庆林、国务委员司马义.艾买提、中华慈善总会会长阎明复、北京市长刘淇、北京市副市长刘敬民、等领导出席开幕式。

The construction of the Chinese Nationalities Museum was started in 1992. The North Section was accomplished and opened to tourists on June 28, 1994. The South Section was opened on September 29, 2001. The leaders of the municipal communist party and government took charge the opening ceremony. Ja Qinglin, the General Secretary of the committee of the municipal communist party, Simayi Amaity, the member of state council, Yan Minfu, the chairman of the China Charity Federation, Liu Qi, the mayor of the Beijing city, Liu Jingmin, the deputy mayor of Beijing city and other government officials attended the opening ceremony.
